Chemical Dependency Counseling

Completing our Chemical Dependency Counseling program prepares you for an entry-level position as a counselor trainee in the state of South Dakota. The CHDP specialized coursework is required for certification. Counselor trainees must also complete 2000 hours of supervised work experience before applying for certification. The Certificate Program is for people who may already have a college degree or several years of experience in chemical dependency counseling, but need the required coursework for certification in South Dakota. You must achieve a ā€œCā€ or better in the counseling courses in order for them to be accepted for counselor certification.

Typical starting salary is $20,000-$25,000 a year.
