Kilian students must complete the assessment requirements. The assessment results provide information about your academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. Students and advisors will use this information in course selection. All Kilian students must take the COMPASS Placement Assessment before they register unless they meet one of the following exceptions:
Previous college experience. Assessment may be waived based on courses taken, credits earned, and grades received. Please have official transcripts sent to the Admissions Office for evaluation.
ACT scores of 19 or above in Reading, Math and English subscores can be used to meet Kilian’s assessment requirement. You may submit an official high school transcript (which includes your ACT scores), or an ACT score report (you can obtain an official copy from ACT).
The COMPASS Assessment in math, reading and writing will be given to students when option A or B are not met. Students enrolling in less than 6 credits are required to:
- complete a writing assessment before enrolling in a composition or writing class.
- complete a math assessment before enrolling in a math class.
